A spectacular monolithic hill in the Western Ghats of Shimoga, Karnataka, Kundadri Hill is decorated with dense forests, grey rugged rocks and a temple that graces the summit with its ancient beauty. Camping in Kundadri Hill gives you a quick getaway from the hot dusty city as this region has pleasant weather, cool blue skies and relaxing greenery that can rejuvenate the senses.
The hill is perhaps best known for the temple at the peak. This 17th century Jain temple is dedicated to thirthankara and has once given shelter to the Acharya Kundakunda centuries ago. Two small rock pools shimmer in the sunlight at the side of the temple and has quenched the thirst of sages through the years.
Camping in Kundadri Hill is a great option for a small holiday away from the city. Climb to the top of the hill and take in the gorgeous vista of the countryside below, trek along the trails lined with trees and shrubs or simply sip on serenity as you sit outside your tent and watch the clouds go by.
Although the hill is a beautiful place to explore, designated campsites aren't available here yet. But why let that stop you?
The best types of adventures are those you create for yourself! Pack up your camping equipment, food, water and other supplies, and make your way to this enchanting place to create your own campsite.
You can camp at the foothills or near the peak, but make sure you follow safety precautions. There's nothing quite like being alone in nature with your thoughts. Give yourself the gift of solo camping or camping at Kundadri Hill with a few close friends to create memories that you will cherish for a lifetime.
