All you want to know about the Experience
As the second-largest wildlife-protected area in the Western Ghats, the Kudremukh National Park is a biodiversity hotspot, teeming with flora and fauna that will make even the most experienced wildlife enthusiast sit at the edge of their seat. With rolling hills against the blue skyline, the landscape is a varied mix of grassland, shola, and evergreen forests.
The park is known for its preservation of the lion-tailed macaque, an endangered species that inhabit the region. Here, you can also spot the regal, rust-colored Indian tiger, panther, wild dog, bison, elephant, sambar, spotted deer, and a variety of reptiles, birds, and insects. The Bhagawathi Nature Camp is located in the Kudremukh National Park, around 11 km away from Kudremukh. Surrounded by luxuriant forests, coffee, cardamom, and areca grove fields, the camp is nestled in greenery and this creates a pleasant, refreshing ambiance for you to relax and soothe your senses. For trekkers, the camp is a great place to start out from, giving you different wooded paths for you to explore the park.
On your trails, you’ll discover the tracks of animals and witness vibrantly feathered birds weaving in and out of the thick, overhead foliage. You’ll be able to spot the Malabar Trogan, Malabar Whistling Thrush, Great Pied Hornbill, Imperial Pigeon, and more.
The best part of this lovely camp is snuggling up in your cozy wooden cottage and waking up to the chirping sounds of the cicadas and the light gurgling of the streams that wind around the property. Don’t forget that the glorious Kudremukh Peak is located in the centre of this unique park. The second highest peak in Karnataka after Mullayanagiri, the name Kudremukh translates to ‘horse face’ due to a side of the mountain resembling the face of a horse. The camp gives you an immersive trekking experience to the top at additional cost and the panoramic views of the emerald landscape and misty horizon are well worth the challenging hike to the peak.
