About K Gudi Wilderness Camp

The Kyathdevaraya Gudi (K Gudi) Wilderness Camp gives you a chance for ecotourism in this biodiversity hotspot. The enigma of nature surrounds you, with fresh, luxuriant greenery and animals that roam freely in their natural habitat. As a Jungle Lodges & Resorts property, it strikes a balance between adventure and nature, respecting its surroundings while giving its guests an opportunity to get close to nature's wonders. Nearby, the B.R.T Wildlife Sanctuary is a slice of protected land and sighting wildlife here is a key attraction for its visitors. This is elephant, gaur, tiger, and leopard terrain, and the wide variety of flora that shelters these beasts are also a delight for naturalists to study.

The jungle is bursting with 250 species of birds including the velvet-fronted nuthatch, gold-fronted chloropsis, blossom-headed parakeet, and the Malabar whistling thrush. Hopping onto a jeep safari and heading into the mysterious forest with experts allows you to understand and sight the animals you’ve only seen in wildlife documentaries. The camp offers you two trips into the sanctuary, one at dawn when the forest wakes up and one at dusk when the nocturnal animals let out their sharp cries and roam the wooded paths of the forest. This gorgeous mountain range can also be explored on foot and for trekkers, walking through these paths can reveal off-beaten trails filled with lesser-known flora and fauna.

As twilight falls, the camp is a quiet haven to relax and put your feet up. You can bask in the warmth of a campfire (not available during summers or monsoon seasons) and take in the serenity of the nature around you. For movie lovers, you can sink into a private viewing experience by watching a wildlife movie in the audio-visual room. Mealtimes take you back to the days of the shikars, with a community-style restaurant that offers a group buffet and opportunities to socialize with other wildlife enthusiasts that visit the camp.

Disconnect from the dust and noise of the city and give yourself a holiday celebrating the beauty of wild Karnataka!

What customers are saying:

  • The staff are very friendly and helpful. Manager is too good and takes care of guests very well. Wilderness right outside your rooms. A place that i would love to go back again.
  • A must visit for those who love wildlife. A reminder for the guests, electricity on this property is mostly solar, hot water is limited, only to 3 hours in the morning and 3 in the evening. Mr. Prasad will brief you on your arrival. Network connectivity is low, but at certain points like near the log huts you would be well connected. They have lamps and rechargeable torches to help you out.
  • This is a very beautiful resort run by Jungle Lodges & Resorts. The camp is built inside the Tiger Reserve. However, spotting a tiger is as rare as ever. But the fact that it is inside a real jungle means that you get to experience nature at its best. The staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful, and the food is great.
  • The property remains calm and secluded, especially on weekdays, when you may be the only ones around. Birding was excellent this time - got rofous woodpecker, velvet fronted nuthatch, chestnut bellied nuthatch, scarlet minivet, lesser flameback, and golden oriole right from the verandah of the log huts. Food was simple and tasty, and included and earthy non-veg dish for each meal.
  • Very nicely maintained. We had taken the tented cottages and they were the best! Very clean and very nicely maintained property. Like any other JLR property, they pay extra attention to the cleanliness and here as well no exceptions. The jungle safaris were also very nicely arranged and quite thrilling indeed. Food was good and quite a good spread they offer!
