All you want to know about the Experience

About the experience

Bored of heading to the same ol’ city hangout spots? Why not spend a day under the sun, surrounded by trees and a cool, refreshing breeze. This day out of the city takes you to a little known organic farm so you can picnic under wide-leaved trees, walk down wooded paths or simply throw the ball around for your dog.

Situated on the fringes of the Bilikal Forest on the south of Bannerghatta National Park, Shoots and Roots- A Traditional Organic Farm gives you a traditional farming experience. The rustic farm serves delicious vegetarian food for its guests with produce from the farm or locally sourced! For those of us who love the simplicity of rural life, Silver Oak Farm allows you to learn more about Karnataka’s unique village culture. You can pick seasonal fruits such as mangoes, sapota, water apple and lemon directly from the trees, feed the farm animals, and take in a deep lungful of sweet, fresh air.

Love learning about organic farming? You can take a tour of the farm to see how fruits and vegetables grow, learn about beekeeping, vermicomposting, rainwater harvesting, greywater filtering, crop rotation and more! You can also get your hands dirty by connecting with the soil, learning to participate in farming activities. The farm sprawls over 15-acres with more than 35 different types of fruit trees and a focus on varieties of horticultural crops. So, get ready to indulge in an experience of learning and relaxation away from the city.
