All you want to know about the Experience
Bangalore is the city that never seems to sleep. With concrete roads that are lined with restaurants and pubs, shopping centers brimming with people and tall skyscrapers that fill the sky, it’s a bustling hotspot that showcases a fast-paced urban lifestyle. However, sometimes we need to step away from the concrete jungle to rejuvenate ourselves; reconnecting with the wonders of nature can soothe your heart and soul and show you there’s more to life than the rat race of the city.
Just 25 kms away from the city, is a slice of the regions wildlife unhindered by the products of civilization. Bannerghatta National Park allows you to get close to the wild, experiencing a simpler time when the creatures of the forest roamed through wooded lanes and flourished in the pleasant, cool climate of Bangalore. Here a hidden chest of Karnataka’s wildlife exists such as bears, wild elephants, deer, porcupines, bonnet macaques, and a mix of different bird species. Instead of heading to a mall or bar over the weekend, why not head to this little wilderness paradise, and immerse yourself in the serenity of the forest.
Bannerghatta is also a rehabilitation facility for tigers and lions rescued from circuses. The biggest of its kind, this lovely facility opened the doors for India’s first Lion and Tiger Safari, and viewing these regal felines from a jeep is the closest you can come to the kings of the forest. These spacious enclosures mimic the natural habitat of the forest and the big cats roam freely here, enjoying the leaves and forested paths. After a tour of the animals in the enclosures, take a guided walk with our in-house naturalist to the herbivore area of the massive park. Here, you’ll also get to visit one of Asia’s largest butterfly parks, located in the Bannerghatta National Park.
Feeling hungry? The unique Gol Ghar, a community dining hall, allows you to feast on a delicious buffet-style lunch of local delicacies while you exchange stories with other nature lovers. You can take your pick from both non-vegetarian to vegetarian delights, and if you’d like, you can enjoy Continental or Chinese food on request.
Treat yourself to a weekend away from the city, in the comforting lap of nature’s wilderness.
