All you want to know about the Experience
Situated on the banks of the River Cauvery, the rapidly flowing waters around the camp were once a popular spot with anglers, who were competing for the Mahseer, one of the largest gamefish known to man. You can’t fish in the bubbling waters of the river anymore but the wildlife that abounds around Galibore Nature Camp makes it a must-see destination for nature lovers. The environment around the camp is home to spotted deers, the endangered grizzled giant squirrel, marsh crocodiles, turtles and snakes. Ornithologists will be delighted to sight the 230 species of birds that flock to the lush region, from fish eagles, green pigeons, to kingfishers, owls and more…
The best part of the Galibore Nature Camp is that the in-house naturalists and staff are experts on the wildlife in the region and will give you facts and explanations about the beautiful creatures you see. At the Gol Ghar, where delicious local food is served, you can spot colorful feathered birds as they flit in and out of the thick foliage of the forest. As you relish the flavours of the locality, you’re treated to spectacular vistas of the river and birds without moving from your seat. As the sun sinks below the horizon, you can stretch out by the riverside and enjoy a barbecue meal under the stars with the fluting sounds of the forest around you.
When you’re visiting the Galibore Nature Camp, its best to come at the right season so that you can catch an eyeful of all the wonderful flora and fauna that grace the banks of the Cauvery. The best time to visit is between August and February, when the monsoons are falling and the river is in full bloom. During the monsoon season, the forest is at its thickest, luxuriant and thriving and this is the ideal time for bird watching.
Make your way to Galibore Nature Camp to experience the quiet of nature and return home recharged.
