About Gopinatham Mystery Trails

Have you ever wanted to see the wildlife of two states at once? Located near Gopinatham, a quaint haven on the border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the Gopinatham Mystery Trails Camp takes you into a secret world of wildlife that exists in the sweet spot between two sprawling states. The Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary is a large, protected area in the Mandya, Chamarajanagar, and Ramanagar districts. The massive, smoothly flowing Cauvery River meanders through this sanctuary, providing water to quench the thirst of the flora and fauna that thrives on its banks.

Within The Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary you can spot mammals such as tigers, elephants, wild boar, leopards, barking deer, black-napped hare, chevrotain, four-horned antelope, the smooth-coated otter, Malabar giant squirrel and more! Because of the river, you’ll also see a variety of slithering reptiles including the mugger crocodile, Indian rock python and the Indian mud turtles. There are also several endangered species of birds that flock to the lush trees that adorn the sanctuaries. Some of the avifauna you’ll see here comprise of the white-rumpled vulture, Indian vulture, Nilgiri wood-pigeon, greater spotted eagle, white-napped tit and the red-headed vulture. Overflowing with wildlife, this sanctuary is bursting with nature’s finest as they sun themselves in the sun or ramble through the many forested paths. Gopinatham Mystery Trails Camp is located right in the middle of the sanctuary and gives you the chance to commune closely with nature.

Around the camp, the landscape moves into a chain of grassy hills and stretches of deciduous forests. During the monsoon, when the earth turns moist and lets out a sweet smell, the trees turn glorious shades of verdant green and to the weary eye, this soothes and rejuvenates you. Explore the forest on foot, discovering hidden nooks and crannies or visit the memorial of a celebrated forest officer who sacrificed his life on duty. You can also trek up to the vantage point to take in spectacular views of the sanctuary. The Niagara of India is only 13 kms from the camp and you can drop by the famed Hogenakkal falls to take in the water spurting forth in a glistening cascade. Hop into a coracle boat to glide down these waters and create a memory that will last long after you leave.

Please note: Prices are dynamic and subject to change. During booking, the team will inform you of the seasonal rates.
