All you want to know about the Experience
Although the mountains and hills of the ‘Scotland of India’ are well known for the beautiful views from their peaks, the forests of Coorg also have their share of natural beauty that can transform a simple trek into an expedition uncovering nature’s hidden secrets.
Plunge into the hills surrounding Madikeri and enter the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary that is teeming with indigenous animals in their natural habitat. The dense forest is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna that flourishes without the interference of human activity.
Spot the signs of animal movement such as the heavy prints of gaur hooves or diggings done by wild pigs. Along the way, we’ll visit a local watering hole named ‘aanekundu’, named after the elephants that frequent its crystal clear waters to quench their thirst.
Splash into this stream and walk your way along a little forest path that takes you through towering trees with thick canopies, bamboo canes that sprout delicately from the ground and vines that drip languorously from the tree branches.
Lunch will be held in a lovely clearing in the jungle before you hike upwards to the crest of a large hill. The hill peers across Coorg’s beautiful grasslands. Take in the vistas and breathe in the freshly scented air before making your way back to the start of the trail.
